The anti-corruption association AC!! filed a complaint against persons unknown with the National Financial Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday. It denounces a system of fictitious jobs that allegedly allowed several elected officials in Paris and the Île-de-France region to hold salaried positions at the RATP (Parisian public transport operator) while also serving in elected office. The public company immediately denied these accusations of sham employment. This complaint comes a few days after a similar action by the association, this time specifically targeting Bally Bagayoko, the mayor of Saint-Denis and a member of the La France Insoumise party.

He is suspected of embezzling public funds and creating a fictitious job. On August 7, a complaint against persons unknown had already been filed with the courts. According to revelations by the satirical weekly Le Canard enchaîné, the mayor allegedly held a full-time position within the Paris public transport authority in addition to his mayoral duties. The investigation is focusing on the compatibility of these two full-time positions.
The National Financial Prosecutor's Office will have to determine whether these multiple positions constitute criminal offenses. The AC!! Anti-Corruption association is focusing its accusations on several elected officials in the Île-de-France region whose professional situations at the RATP (Parisian public transport operator) raise questions. The transport authority has firmly denied any irregularities in the recruitment or retention of its employees.
