Vaimalama Chaves has chosen to be honest. In an Instagram post accompanied by a video, Miss France 2019 revealed that she gained 20 kilos a year and a half after her bodybuilding competition. It's a physical transformation she now accepts.
Far from dramatizing this weight gain, she speaks of it as a logical consequence of a period of relaxation, travel, and reconnecting with herself. Above all, she clearly contrasts the image of a body sculpted for competition with that of a more serene, freer, and, in her opinion, happier body.
“A competitive body is not a healthy body.”
In her message, Vaimalama Chaves reflects on the extreme demands of physical preparation. She describes a competitive body as “a deficient body”deprived not only of food, but also of well-being and emotional comfort. She also discusses the possible consequences of this extreme austerity, particularly eating disorders.
Rediscovering pleasure, far from constraints
After this intense period, the former beauty queen explains that she gave her body time to “enjoy, live, get rounder”During a year of travel, she says she stopped fighting against the natural transformations of her body.
With a self-deprecating phrase, she sums up this change of mindset: she says “Much happier with chocolate to eat than with chocolate bars on my stomach.”
“I gained 20 kg and actually, it suits me well.”she writes again. She humorously confides that “His bank account is less happy”She also announced that she wants to resume her efforts in 2026.
