Timothée Chalamet set the stage on fire Saturday Night Live on January 25th, performing several Bob Dylan songs. On the occasion of his third presentation of the famous American show, the 29-year-old actor surprised the audience with covers of Outlaw BluesTomorrow Is a Long Time et Three Angels, the latter title being performed as a duet with British pianist James Blake. These performances, shared on YouTube by the show, immediately won over fans, who expressed their enthusiasm by demanding a tribute concert. Some did not hesitate to praise his vocal talent, claiming that he even surpassed some professional singers.

These performances come just days before the release of the biopic A complete stranger, directed by James Mangold, in which Timothée Chalamet plays Bob Dylan in his early days in 1960s New York. To prepare for this demanding role, the actor devoted more than five and a half years to perfect his performance and voice. He explained that he took advantage of the lockdown periods to rehearse tirelessly, going so far as to sing Dylan songs to his friends via video conference. The film, which traces the folk singer's meteoric rise, has received the endorsement of Bob Dylan himself, thus reinforcing the authenticity of the project.

Highly anticipated, A complete stranger is already establishing itself as a serious contender for the Oscars, with eight nominations, including that of best actor for Timothée Chalamet. Thanks to his impressive investment and critically acclaimed performances, the actor could well win the precious statuette. While waiting for the ceremony, French spectators will be able to discover the film from 29 January At the movie theater.
