Sixteen years after the worldwide success of Waka WakaShakira makes her return to the World Cup soundtrack. The Colombian singer has unveiled the music video for Come on come on, the official song of the 2026 World Cup, which she performs with Nigerian artist Burna Boy. FIFA officially announced the song in mid-May as the official anthem of the tournament, in support of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
Mbappé, Messi and several other football stars on screen
The video features a star-studded cast. Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and Vinicius Jr. all appear in the video. The French national team captain notably opens the sequence with the line: “Shakira, we're ready!”i.e “Shakira, we’re ready!”
Lionel Messi also appears in the video's introduction. This presence gives the video a particular symbolic significance: the Argentinian remains one of the major figures in world football and the captain of the reigning world champion national team.
Come on come ona title designed for the global atmosphere
With Come on come onShakira returns to familiar territory: that of popular football anthems. In 2010, Waka WakaRecorded for the World Cup in South Africa, it had become one of the songs most associated with the tournament's recent history. The new track, featuring Burna Boy, follows this formula of a festive, international, and instantly recognizable song. The music video also includes a choreography filmed at the Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro's legendary stadium.
A World Cup organized in three countries
As a reminder, the 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The official FIFA calendar confirms an opening match on June 11 and a final scheduled for July 19.
