Paul de Saint-Sernin, Eden Hazard, Paul Mirabel, Dominique Rocheteau, Javier Pastore, Robert Pirès… reunited for an exceptional “Heroes' Match” to benefit the Institute of Myology

On May 31st, the pitch at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard will host an extraordinary event: AS Saint-Étienne legends will face off against a team of prominent figures in a charity match organized to support research into ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), conducted by the Institut de Myologie, a center of expertise dedicated to muscle and related diseases. Tickets for this exceptional match go on sale today on the ASSE website.

Among the announced participants are Paul de Saint-Sernin, Eden Hazard, Javier Pastore, Paul Mirabel, Thomas Ngijol, Artus, and many others, who will make up the Heroes team. Facing them will be the Green Legends, led by their captain, Loïc Perrin, alongside Dominique Rocheteau, Pascal Feindouno, Mathieu Debuchy, and Stéphane Ruffier.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease that attacks the motor neurons that control the muscles, leading to progressive paralysis. A better understanding of the interactions between nerves and muscles is a major challenge today for developing new therapeutic approaches, as no cure currently exists. All proceeds from this charity football match will be donated to the Association Institut de Myologie, an international center of expertise founded by AFM-Téléthon, to support the development of treatments, including gene therapy, to combat ALS.

This important cause will provide extra motivation for both teams, who are sure to deliver a memorable spectacle for the fans at the "Chaudron" arena. Kick-off is at 19:30 p.m. on May 31st for this match, which is already shaping up to be legendary.

This meeting will also be an opportunity to pay tribute to Georges Bereta, former iconic captain of the Greens and the French National Team, who passed away from ALS in 2023.
