Born on May 8, 1951 in Bordeaux, Catherine Laborde began her career as an actress before becoming, in 1988, one of the most familiar faces on French television by presenting the weather on TF1 for nearly three decades. She left the airwaves in 2017, later revealing her battle with Lewy body dementia.
His death sparked a wave of emotion and numerous tributes. The president Emmanuel Macron saluted “a permanence, a landmark, often a clearing” in the lives of the French. Prime Minister François Bayrou, a teenage friend of Catherine Laborde, shared his memories on social networks, describing her as “grace and life, fragility and enthusiasm.”
The TF1 group paid tribute to its “competence, his kindness, his joy of living”, qualities that earned her the affection of all. Météo-France also paid tribute to the woman who embodied "the sunny face of weather" for nearly three decades.
