Lady Gaga recently caused a sensation on social media today by sharing a mysterious teaser to announce his next album. In a short video with a dark aesthetic, the singer, sporting black hair, revealed the title of this new opus, Mayhem, as well as its official release date: le 7 march. Originally scheduled for February, the album will be the seventh of his career. Pre-orders are now open.
Two extracts from Mayhem are already available: Disease, which had moderate success, and Die With a Smile, a duet with Bruno MarsThe latter established itself as a global hit, climbing to the top of the charts and earning two nominations for the prestigious Grammy Awards. According to Billboard, this title has been streamed more than 150 millions of times in just two months.
As a prelude to the release of the album, Lady Gaga will release a third single on Sunday 2 February during the ceremony of Grammy Awards, where she is also nominated. A source close to the artist quoted by Rolling Stone claims that the clip for this unreleased track will be broadcast during a commercial break at the event, providing maximum visibility for this still mysterious title.
What we know about the album
Composed of 14 titles, Mayhem promises an exploration of new sounds and a resolutely dark atmosphere. The magazine Pitchfork evokes surprise collaborations with artists such asand The Weeknd et Rosalia, although this remains to be confirmed. For their part, some industry insiders, such as those at The Guardian, already describe the album as one of Lady Gaga's most daring projects since Born This Way...
