Flavie Flament accuses Patrick Bruel of rape and files a complaint for events dating back to 1991

Television presenter and author Flavie Flament announced on Friday that she has filed a rape complaint against Patrick Bruel for acts she claims occurred in 1991, when she was 16 years old. In a message posted on Instagram, the journalist explained that she wants "the truth to come out" and "justice to be served." The complaint, filed with a civil claim before the Paris Judicial Court, aims to obtain the opening of a judicial investigation.

According to the account published by MediapartFlavie Flament accuses the singer of having received her at his Parisian apartment in the early 1990s, during the height of "Bruelmania." She claims to have lost consciousness after drinking tea offered by the artist, before waking up in a state of shock. The television presenter says she has since lived with the conviction that she was drugged and raped. Patrick Bruel firmly denies these accusations and, through his lawyers, maintains that he has "never drugged" or "assaulted" Flavie Flament.

This case reignites accusations against Patrick Bruel.

This complaint comes at a time that is already extremely sensitive for Patrick Bruel. In recent months, several press investigations have reported on the testimonies of numerous women accusing the singer of sexual violence or alleged sexual assault. According to Mediapart, some thirty testimonies have been collected, while several legal proceedings are currently underway in France and Belgium. The singer benefits from the presumption of innocence.

A prominent figure in the fight against sexual violence for many years, Flavie Flament had already made headlines in 2016 with her book "La Consolation" (The Consolation), in which she accused photographer David Hamilton of raping her when she was a teenager. Today, she says she wants to speak out "for the young girl she once was" but also "for all the other women who have broken their silence."
