The 30 Million Friends Foundation has announced it will soon file a complaint following a series of dog electrocutions that occurred in early January in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, near Parc Monceau. Around ten animals are believed to have been victims of electric shocks, including a dog that died on January 6th after stepping on a metal plate embedded in the sidewalk on Avenue Ruysdaël.
A technical malfunction was the cause.
According to initial reports, the incident appears to be linked to a faulty metal cover in contact with a live component supplying power to the streetlights. The association denounces a situation of serious danger and believes the incident could have had fatal consequences. The complaint, filed against persons unknown, targets the town hall and the electricity network operator, leaving it to the courts to determine liability.
The town hall of the 8th arrondissement confirms that the power was cut and the site was quickly secured after the incident. An internal investigation is still underway to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. For its part, the 30 Million Friends Foundation is urging affected property owners to come forward, mentioning the possibility of joint legal action and compensation for emotional distress.
