Taylor Swift has topped the global album sales charts for 2025 for the fourth consecutive year, and for the sixth time in her career, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) announced. This distinction recognizes the artist with the best cumulative performance across albums and singles, in all formats: physical, digital, and streaming.
The 36-year-old American singer owes this success in part to the October release of her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, which had the best opening week of the year and of her career. She outsold South Korean group Stray Kids, who achieved their best chart position ever, as well as Canadian rapper Drake.
A ranking dominated by pop and hip-hop
Behind the top three are The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, and Kendrick Lamar. Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, and Lady Gaga round out the rankings compiled by the London-based IFPI.
The federation highlights the historic nature of this sixth first place for Taylor Swift, whose year 2025 was also marked by the release of a documentary dedicated to her world tour.
