Gad Elmaleh plays the piano for peace
Gad Elmaleh

This is a very moving video that Gad Elmaleh posted yesterday on his Instagram account. In this video, filmed in black and white, the comedian, wearing dark glasses, plays on his piano, "praying for peace", as he himself indicates in the commentary of this sequence. It is often said that some actions are worth more than words. This scene is the perfect illustration of this, as the comedy star manages to convey his message of peace thanks to this timeless musical moment filled with emotion.

Gad Elmaleh, a musician turned comedian, and not the other way around

Anyone who has had the chance to see Gad Elmaleh on stage will tell you: Gad Elmaleh is a fantastic musician. And for good reason, from a very young age, music took a very important place in his life. From his earliest childhood, little Gad was fascinated by the stage, and even dreamed of becoming "a kind of Michael Jackson". He himself confessed it: when he was young, Gad Elmaleh was very shy, and needed to play the piano or breakdance to get girls to look at him.

Another artist who left his mark on Gad Elmaleh: Claude NougaroAt the age of 6, Gad Elmaleh heard the song for the first time Armstrong on his uncle's record player. And there it is, love at first sight ! A love at first sight that never ended. As proof, in early 2021, the comedian released a tribute album to Claude Nougaro. Claude Nougaro, for whom Gad Elmaleh had written a text a few years ago, and who, during his lifetime, had surprised him by reading it in front of him, during a broadcast by Isabelle Giordano. That day, Gad was in tears. A memory, as he says, that marked him for life...

When this album was released, some critics wrote: "We knew Gad Elmaleh as a comedian and actor, today we discover him as a singer." This was a very poor understanding of the artist. Gad Elmaleh isn't a comedian who became a singer. Gad Elmaleh is a young man passionate about music who eventually became a comedian. As he himself declared: “As a kid in Casablanca, I didn’t think I’d be a comedian or an actor. I dreamed of being a singer, and I took piano lessons.”

Besides, when Gad Elmaleh achieved success and money, his first "rich man's gift", to quote him, was a Steinway piano, the Rolls Royce of pianos... Music, a first love that has never left him, and with which he prays today for peace...
