Omar Harfouch, an artist committed to the service of peace
The concert was conducted by Omar Harfouch, honorary composer and Pilgrim of Peace, a title bestowed upon him by Pope Francis, whose artistic and humanitarian journey has taken him to some of the world's most symbolic stages, including the Vatican, Rome, the European Commission in Brussels and Mar-a-Lago, USA.
A powerful gesture in Dubai during a time of uncertainty
In a period marked by regional uncertainties, Omar Harfouch chose to go to Dubai, undeterred by the current conflict in the Middle East, driven by a single objective: to put music at the service of peace.
His presence also had a personal dimension. As he recently stated in an interview: "Dubai is my city." This concert was, in many ways, both a gesture of support and a declaration of love for a city that he holds particularly dear.
An intimate interpretation, conveyed with great intensity
Accompanied by his chamber orchestra, including two French musicians from Paris as part of his quartet, the artist offered an evening blending musical intimacy and emotional depth.
A prestigious gathering with diplomatic and cultural influence
A prestigious audience attended the event, attesting to its diplomatic and cultural significance. Among the dignitaries present were Étienne Berchtold, Ambassador of Austria to the United Arab Emirates; Diaby Vacaba, Ambassador of Côte d'Ivoire to Abu Dhabi; Marc Sievers, former Ambassador of the United States to the United Arab Emirates; Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of the DMCC; Dr. Mohamed Al Nouman, Chairman of the Alhosan Group (Abu Dhabi); Dr. Abdulla Al Kaabi; Dr. Majid Al Sarrah; as well as several other prominent figures, including Mikhail Iakobachvili, Ali Jaber Al Ateya, Imran Hussain, Meera Zayed Al Blooshi, Louay Cherif, Ahmed Ali Mousa Al Naqbi, and Kareem Hassan Fareed.
The evening also benefited from extensive media coverage, highlighting the growing international impact of the project.
An audience from all over the Emirates
What truly made this evening exceptional was, above all, its audience. Emiratis and residents traveled from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah and far beyond, proof of a collective need to come together, to rebuild connections and to share a moment of peace.
Heartbreaking testimonies, capturing the essence of the moment
Throughout the performance, the emotion was palpable. As if the music were capturing the heartbeat of the audience in real time, several voices from the public expressed the depth of the experience: “Yesterday was truly a very special moment for us… Seeing my daughter so happy, inspired, and radiant when she came home has stayed with me. Thank you for creating this moment for her.” explained another spectator.
Another mother, visibly moved, confided: "It's a strange time for Dubai, and the children feel it more than anything. She's leaving for London next week… I'm grateful she was able to experience something so beautiful before she left. Music heals."
Music as a refuge, strength, and connection
These spontaneous testimonies captured the very essence of the evening: music, not only as an art form, but also as a source of comfort, resilience, and human connection.
An oriental finale, vibrant and unifying
The program concluded with a vibrant and luminous finale: the Oriental Fantasy. Driven by rhythmic oriental melodies, the work transformed the atmosphere of the hall. Swept away by the energy of the music, the audience began to applaud in unison, filling the space with joy and collective enthusiasm.
The concert ended in celebration, a shared moment of lightness, unity and hope.
Much more than a concert
More than just a performance, the Concerto for Peace in Dubai became a reminder that, even in the most uncertain times, music remains a universal language, capable of bringing people together, healing wounds and reaffirming our common humanity.
