Two iconic figures of French-language R&B have chosen to share the same microphone. Singuila and Mr Nov have unveiled a new collaborative single, whose release coincides with the fourth edition of the Flammes awards ceremony, held on Thursday, April 23rd at La Seine Musicale. This gives the track an immediate baptism of fire in front of an audience already won over by their music.
A vocal alchemy serving emotions
The track capitalizes on what has defined both artists since the 2000s: sensual melodies, meticulous instrumentation that never overpowers the vocals, and a keen eye for detail. Singuila's warm timbre converses with Mr Nov's more subdued tone in an intimate exchange, perfect for late-night listening. Without any unnecessary flourishes, the track plays on a laid-back groove and catchy choruses that linger. The two artists share a common heritage: that of romantic and elegant French-language R&B, and this single is a natural extension of that. No information has yet surfaced regarding a potential longer collaborative project, but the track certainly feels like a first step.
Singuila, a wave of nostalgia at Les Flammes, and a concert in June
On the Flammes stage, Singuila delivered a performance that immersed the audience in a decidedly nostalgic atmosphere. The Franco-Congolese artist performed several of his most memorable hits: "Ma nature," "Le Misérable," his signature song from 2006, and "Rossignol," before leaving the stage and reminding the audience: "See you on June 19th at the Accor Arena." The ceremony, packed with performances, also featured Bigflo & Oli accompanied by Juste Shani, Youssoupha and Guizmo, as well as Ronisia, winner of the Flamme award for R&B song of the year. However, the big winner of the evening remained Theodora, the star of this fourth edition's awards.
