A music video filmed in a royal setting
Directed by photographer Petra Collins, the video shows Olivia Rodrigo moving alone through the corridors and salons of the famous monument. She appears alternately with a guitar or headphones, in an atmosphere that blends classical codes and modern aesthetics.
The choice of Versailles is not insignificant. In the song, the singer evokes a romantic relationship and slips in an image directly linked to the place: “You look like an angel against the walls of Versailles.” The music video extends this idea, with a staging that sometimes recalls the world of Marie Antoinette, somewhere between romanticism and incongruity.
A highly anticipated return before a new album
Drop Dead kicks off the promotion for You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, Olivia Rodrigo's third album, due out June 12th. Following the success of her previous projects, the singer is relying on a strong visual strategy to mark this new chapter.
Following the release of the music video, she also performed the song for the first time during a surprise appearance at the Coachella festival, confirming her return to the forefront of the scene.
