Megan Thee Stallion had a major scare. During a performance of the musical Moulin Rouge! on Broadway, the American rapper had to leave the stage abruptly after feeling unwell and was taken to the hospital. The following day, the artist addressed the public to reassure them and acknowledge that her body had finally given out after several days of intense exertion.
A sudden illness in the middle of the show
For the past week, the 31-year-old star had been playing the role of Zidler, the master of ceremonies at the Moulin Rouge in New York. However, on Tuesday evening, the performance was interrupted. According to The Hollywood Reporter, her agent explained that Megan Thee Stallion began feeling “very unwell” during the show, leading to her immediate transfer to a nearby hospital. The evening eventually resumed with a stand-in on stage.
The next day, the rapper broke her silence on Instagram. She described it as “a real wake-up call,” explaining that she had pushed herself too far recently. She added that she had been terrified, to the point of thinking she was going to faint in front of the audience. Despite her desire to continue, she had to stop.
A physical scare, but a return already announced
According to details provided to AFP by a spokesperson for the artist, doctors identified several causes for this illness: extreme fatigue, dehydration, vasoconstriction, and a slowed metabolism. These factors confirm physical exhaustion rather than a long-term problem, even though the initial warning was serious.
Megan Thee Stallion has assured her fans that she plans to return to the stage as early as Thursday. She promises to come back “stronger” and “more focused,” intending to give the audience all the energy they expect. This setback doesn't diminish her theatrical ambitions: committed until mid-May to Moulin Rouge!, she still sees this experience as a way to explore new artistic territory.
