French artists continue to captivate international audiences, from rap to electronic music.

French music productions confirmed their strong international momentum in 2025, driven by both new rap and electronic music hits and classic French classics. According to the annual report published by the National Music Center, 758 singles and 57 albums received international certification, representing over 50 billion equivalent streams.

Rap remains the dominant genre among the most exported new releases, with artists like Gazo and Tiakola. The CNM also highlights the strong performance of pop and Afrobeat, notably thanks to Zaho de Sagazan. The track "Melodrama" by Theodora and Disiz, for example, has surpassed 270 million streams worldwide and enjoyed unexpected success as far away as Denmark.

Historical catalogues remain as powerful as ever

Older hits also continue to drive French export performance. The "back catalogue," which includes tracks released more than three years ago, remains particularly sought after on streaming platforms. The duo Daft Punk is still among the most listened-to French artists abroad with classics like "Around the World."

The report also highlights the longevity of artists like Aya Nakamura, Zaz, and Carla Bruni. The oldest song still certified in 2025 remains "La Mer" by Charles Trenet, released in 1946, proof, according to the CNM, of the enduring appeal of great French song classics to international audiences.
