Voter turnout is increasing in Guadeloupe for the second round of municipal elections. By 17 p.m., 49,81% of registered voters had cast their ballots, representing a 3,5-point increase compared to the first round (46,31%) and a level also higher than that recorded at the same time in 2020.
This momentum had already begun by midday, with 21,37% participation at noon compared to 17,95% a week earlier, confirming a renewed interest in this second round in the archipelago.
Significant local disparities
Some municipalities saw particularly high voter turnout. In La Désirade, participation reached over 74% by late afternoon, well above the departmental average. Conversely, other areas remained close to 50%, such as Goyave and Trois-Rivières.
In total, 30 lists are competing in the 12 municipalities concerned by this second round, the results of which were expected in the evening after the closing of the polling stations at 18 p.m.
