Green Party candidate David Belliard was elected mayor of Paris's 11th arrondissement in the second round of municipal elections. He won by a wide margin with 55,32% of the vote, ahead of LR candidate Nelly Garnier (22,67%) and LFI representative Sabrina Nouri (14,72%).
Allied with Emmanuel Grégoire's socialists as part of a union agreement concluded before the first round, the former deputy for transport under Anne Hidalgo is consolidating the left's foothold in this district historically won by the socialists.
This victory confirms the weight of the ecologists in the Parisian majority and marks a symbolic transfer of leadership within the left-wing coalition in the capital.
