On Monday morning, Entrevue reviews the results of the municipal elections and the main lessons learned from the vote across the cities of France.
In the aftermath of the second round, the results of the alliances between the Socialist Party and La France Insoumise (LFI) appear very mixed. While the Socialist Party managed to retain several major cities such as Paris, Marseille, Rennes, Montpellier, Lille, and Nantes, it lost other historical strongholds to the right, notably Brest, Clermont-Ferrand, Tulle, and Cherbourg. For its part, LFI made significant gains in several municipalities, including Roubaix and Le Tampon. These mixed results have reignited strategic tensions on the left between those who favor unity and those who advocate for an independent approach, against the backdrop of preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
