An official from the "Peace Council" for Gaza called on Tuesday for a cessation of "all militant activity" in the territory, specifically targeting the launching of kites towards Israel.
The warning came from the Peace Council itself. One of its officials demanded on Tuesday that all militant activities in Gaza cease, "including flying kites." This demand comes a few days after Israel threatened to escalate its military operations if the launching of kites, drones, and balloons toward its territory continued.
Hamas, for its part, refuses to acknowledge any offensive nature to these shipments. The movement maintains that they are solely the activity of innocent children, thus rejecting any responsibility for what Tel Aviv presents as a deliberate provocation.
The controversy surrounding these flying objects illustrates the persistent tensions surrounding the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza, where the very definition of a military act remains subject to interpretation between the parties.
