Qatar on Saturday strongly condemned what it called "repeated Israeli violations" of the ceasefire in Gaza, following new deadly strikes by the Israeli army on the Palestinian territory. In a statement, the Qatari Foreign Ministry described the situation as increasingly worrying.
For Doha, these operations constitute a "dangerous escalation" likely to undermine the truce and jeopardize diplomatic efforts to consolidate the cessation of hostilities. Qatar believes these actions could fuel a resumption of tensions and complicate ongoing initiatives.
A warning about the political process
As a mediating country in the conflict, Qatar points out that it contributed, alongside Egypt and the United States, to securing the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10. It considers the recent strikes to represent "a direct threat" to the political process linked to this agreement.
Doha finally calls on Israel to "fully respect" the terms of the ceasefire, stressing the importance of avoiding any breach that could lead to a further deterioration of the humanitarian and security situation in the enclave.
