The Israeli army has launched an internal investigation following the discovery of incidents involving reserve soldiers from a commando unit that participated in military operations in southern Lebanon. The soldiers are suspected of leaving a luxury hotel used as a temporary base with various items belonging to the establishment. The incidents concern members of the commando brigade who were deployed in recent months to the western sector of southern Lebanon, particularly during operations in the Majdal Zoun region.
A hotel transformed into a military base
During their deployment, the soldiers occupied a luxury hotel on the Lebanese coast. The hotel had been completely evacuated of its guests and staff since the start of the fighting, allowing Israeli forces to temporarily establish themselves there as a logistical base and accommodation. At the end of their stay, several soldiers reportedly retrieved items from the hotel's maintenance supplies.
Soaps, shampoos, slippers… and even bathroom doors
According to initial findings of the investigation, the commandos allegedly took hotel slippers, soap, shampoo bottles, and other items typically intended for guests. However, the case took a new turn when it emerged that bathroom doors were also among the stolen items. These doors were reportedly not installed in the soldiers' quarters but were placed in a container belonging to one of the brigade's units. Several soldiers are also believed to have kept some of these items as souvenirs of their time in Lebanon.

The soldiers' behavior contrasts sharply with the praise this unit received for its operational performance during the fighting in western southern Lebanon, particularly after the discovery of significant underground infrastructure used for launching drones. Despite these military achievements, the Israeli command has decided to launch an investigation to establish the precise circumstances, identify those responsible, and determine whether disciplinary action should be taken. The investigation will notably seek to determine how these items were removed from the hotel and whether other equipment belonging to the establishment was also taken by members of the unit.
