Zelensky reveals a discreet visit by Abramovich to Kyiv to deliver a message to the Kremlin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky It was claimed that Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich traveled to Kyiv to offer to deliver a message to the Kremlin regarding peace prospects. This revelation constitutes the first official confirmation of the trip and the tycoon's involvement in indirect discussions related to the conflict.

In an interview with Sky News in London, Volodymyr Zelensky explained that Abramovich had indicated to him that he wanted to act as an intermediary with Vladimir Putin. According to the Ukrainian leader, the billionaire wished to convey a message discreetly, without public communication.

The Ukrainian president clarified that this meeting "was not a secret," adding that Russian authorities were seeking to understand what Kyiv was prepared to accept in the context of potential negotiations. He insisted, however, that Ukraine was not willing to cede any territory.

At the heart of this exchange, Donbas was presented as a major sticking point. Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he had clearly indicated that no Ukrainian withdrawal from this region was conceivable, rejecting any idea of territorial compromise.

Roman Abramovich, former owner of Chelsea Football Club, has been subject to Western sanctions since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. He was already involved in mediation attempts during the early weeks of the conflict, including discussions related to the export of grain via the Black Sea.

According to the Ukrainian president, indirect discussions with intermediaries like Abramovich reflect Russia's desire to know Kyiv's positions, even though the positions of the two sides remain deeply divergent, particularly on territorial issues and the conditions of a possible ceasefire.
