US intelligence services believe China is preparing to deliver new air defense systems to Iran, according to reports by CNN.
According to these assessments, these deliveries could take place in the coming weeks, while tensions remain high in the Middle East after several weeks of conflict involving Tehran and a coalition led by Washington.
US intelligence also mentions alleged attempts by Beijing to route this equipment through third countries, in order to conceal its origin and avoid direct exposure.
This information, which is based on sources close to the intelligence services, has not been officially confirmed by the Chinese authorities, who have in the past denied any involvement in arms transfers to Iran.
If confirmed, such deliveries could further complicate ongoing diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran, particularly negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
They could also exacerbate tensions between major powers, in a context already marked by growing strategic rivalry between the United States and China.
This situation underlines once again the international dimension of the conflict, the repercussions of which extend far beyond the regional framework.
