One person was killed and five others were injured, two of them seriously, in a series of shootings that occurred Sunday in central Israel, according to Israeli emergency services.
The MDA ambulance service reported that the incidents occurred in the Kochav Ya'ir area. Israeli media reported gunfire at several locations, including near a gas station close to Kochav Ya'ir, in the town of Tzur Yitzhak, and along Route 5533.
The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported that an Arab Israeli citizen was killed during the events. Five other people were injured, two of whom are in serious condition.
Following the attacks, Israeli security forces launched a major search operation for a suspect who remains at large. The Israeli army confirmed it had received several reports of armed incidents in various parts of the region.
Authorities have not yet specified the exact circumstances of the shooting or the possible motives of the suspected perpetrator. An investigation has been launched to determine responsibility and reconstruct the sequence of events.
