A 15-year-old Palestinian boy was killed Sunday by Israeli naval gunfire off Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian medical sources.
Muhammad Musa Abu Giab, a fisherman, was shot while at sea. His body was taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to local sources, Israeli warships opened machine-gun fire on several fishing boats, killing the young man instantly.
In addition, the Israeli navy also conducted machine gun and shell fire towards the coastline of Gaza City, in the north of the enclave, with no casualties reported in that area.
In a separate incident, two Palestinian bodies arrived at Al-Shifa Hospital after being killed in an Israeli artillery bombardment targeting a home in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, according to hospital sources.
These events come as the situation remains tense despite the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10. Palestinian authorities maintain that Israeli military operations continue regularly in several areas of the enclave.
According to figures released by the Palestinian authorities, several hundred people have been killed and wounded since the truce came into effect. Negotiations aimed at consolidating the ceasefire and reaching a lasting agreement remain difficult, while violence continues to fuel tensions in the region.
