Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the situation on the front line was "the best in 10 months", believing that Kyiv forces had managed to contain a major Russian offensive in March.
According to the Ukrainian leader, this offensive, prepared by Russia, was thwarted thanks to the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces. He warned, however, that Moscow could now intensify its attacks in response to this setback, suggesting the possibility of renewed fighting in the coming weeks.
"Overall, the front line is holding firm... The situation is complex, but it is the best it has experienced in the last 10 months," said Volodymyr Zelensky, relying on information provided by Ukrainian and British intelligence services.
Despite this relative improvement, the president stressed that the situation remained fragile. Fighting continues on several fronts, and Ukrainian forces remain under constant pressure from a still-active Russian army.
On the diplomatic front, Zelensky indicated that he had invited American negotiators to Kyiv following an online meeting earlier in the week. He stated that he had received "positive signals" in response to this proposal, suggesting a possible intensification of discussions with Washington.
This declaration comes amid a protracted war, where every development on the ground carries strategic weight. While Ukraine claims a more favorable position, the outlook remains uncertain, with the risk of further military escalation.
