Ukraine: A massive attack by more than 300 Russian drones and missiles hits several cities

Russia launched a large-scale attack against Ukraine overnight, deploying more than 300 drones and several ballistic missiles, Ukrainian authorities said. The strikes targeted port infrastructure in the south of the country and caused several casualties.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 324 drones and three ballistic missiles were launched between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Air defense systems claimed to have shot down or neutralized 309 drones, but at least 13 of them, along with the missiles, hit nine separate targets.

In the southeastern city of Dnipro, a drone strike injured three people, said regional governor Oleksandr Ganzha. The strikes also damaged a nine-story residential building and an administrative building, according to images released by local authorities.

This offensive comes the day after a missile strike on the same city, which killed five people and injured nearly 30, highlighting the increasing intensity of bombing in this strategic region.

In Cherkasy, in the central part of the country, four people required medical attention after another drone attack overnight, according to regional governor Ihor Taburets. The extent of the material damage is still being assessed.

Further southeast, in Zaporizhzhia, a 74-year-old woman was killed in an early morning bombing. Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov stated that she was in a kiosk at the time of the impact, which also caused further destruction in the city.

This new wave of massive strikes illustrates the continuation of the Russian offensive and the constant pressure exerted on several Ukrainian regions. Despite the claimed effectiveness of the air defenses, the attacks continue to cause casualties and significant damage to civilian infrastructure.
