Ukraine: The Kremlin is ruling out another call between Putin and Trump for now

The Kremlin indicated on Tuesday that no telephone conversation was currently planned between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart. Donald TrumpMoscow also clarified that no date had yet been set for a possible visit to Russia by the American envoys involved in the discussions on the Ukrainian conflict.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, however, emphasized that contacts were continuing between US negotiators and the various parties involved. According to him, discussions are ongoing with Russia through the usual channels, as well as with the Ukrainian authorities.

US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had previously participated in mediation efforts between Moscow and Kyiv. However, these initiatives were interrupted in February when the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran, altering Washington's diplomatic priorities.

Despite the suspension, Moscow maintains it remains open to resuming talks. Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia would be ready to welcome American negotiators at any time, even though no trip is currently scheduled.

The day before, the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky He had mentioned a conversation he described as "positive" with the two American envoys. He had welcomed their willingness to continue efforts to find a solution to the conflict in the coming weeks.

While fighting continues on the ground, statements from the Kremlin indicate that diplomatic channels remain open, even if formal negotiations currently appear to have stalled. Developments in contacts between Washington, Moscow, and Kyiv will be closely monitored in the coming weeks, as the prospects for a resolution to the conflict remain uncertain.
