Le président américain Donald Trump He stated on Saturday that the United States could resume strikes against Iran "if it behaves badly," while also hinting at the possibility of an agreement currently under discussion. These remarks come amid persistent tensions despite a recent suspension of military operations.
Speaking from West Palm Beach, Florida, before a trip to Miami, Donald Trump indicated that he had been briefed on the broad outlines of an Iranian proposal, adding that he was now awaiting a detailed version of the text. "They told me about the principle of the agreement. They're now going to give me the exact text," he said.
According to a senior Iranian official, this proposal aims to reopen navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and end the maritime blockade imposed by Washington. In return, discussions on Iran's nuclear program would be postponed to a later stage, an approach that has drawn reservations from the United States.
The US president expressed skepticism about the proposal, arguing that Iran "had not paid a high enough price" for its past actions. On his social media account, he suggested that the current terms of the offer might not be acceptable to Washington.
When asked about a possible resumption of airstrikes, Donald Trump remained somewhat ambiguous, while clearly mentioning the option. "If they misbehave, if they do something wrong, we'll see. But it's a possibility," he said, without providing further details.
The United States and Israel suspended their bombing campaign against Iran about four weeks ago, hoping to encourage de-escalation. However, the lack of a lasting agreement and persistent disagreements over the terms of a compromise keep the region in a state of high uncertainty.
