Trump describes a "very good" meeting with Modi and progress on trade agreements.

Le président américain Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he had had a "very good" conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.

Speaking to reporters, Trump indicated that the United States and India were continuing discussions aimed at concluding new trade agreements between the two countries. He also described Modi as a "tough negotiator," highlighting the complexity of the economic talks between Washington and New Delhi.

The US president also announced his intention to visit India "in the near future", without specifying a date.

This meeting comes as the United States and India seek to strengthen their economic and strategic relations amid a reorganization of global supply chains and increasing cooperation in trade, technology and security.

Details of the potential trade agreements under discussion have not been disclosed, but the two countries have been working for several years to deepen their trade and reduce some tariff disputes.
