Lebanon: Hezbollah deems the ceasefire "meaningless" despite its extension

Iran has indicated that it is in close contact with Lebanon to ensure compliance with ceasefire commitments, according to its foreign ministry.

The spokesman for Iranian diplomacy, speaking from Islamabad, stated that these exchanges aimed to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire "on all fronts," as crucial negotiations are held to end several weeks of conflict.

These discussions are taking place in a fragile context, marked by repeated violations of the truce, particularly in Lebanon, where tensions remain high between Israel and groups supported by Tehran.

According to Lebanese officials close to Hezbollah, the movement supports ongoing diplomatic efforts, including mediation led by Pakistan, which is considered more effective than a series of separate negotiations.

The talks between American and Iranian officials, held in the Pakistani capital, appear to be a major attempt at de-escalation, even though many points of friction remain, particularly regarding the situation in Lebanon.

In this context, coordination between Tehran and Beirut could play a key role in preventing an escalation of the conflict and consolidating a still fragile ceasefire.
