Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a far-right politician, reiterated his call for the demolition of ten buildings in Beirut's Dahiye neighborhood for every rocket fired from Lebanon toward Israel. He expressed this position in a message posted on the social media platform X, in connection with current regional tensions.
In his remarks, Bezalel Smotrich referred to the ongoing discussions between the United States and Iran, stating that the Shiite movement Hezbollah should not exploit the situation to intensify its attacks against northern Israel. He asserted that a large-scale response should be implemented in the event of rocket or drone attacks.
According to his statements, ten buildings in the Dahiye neighborhood are to be destroyed in retaliation for each attack, adding that this type of response should be implemented "as early as tonight." These remarks come amid heightened tensions between Israel and Lebanon, regularly marked by cross-border exchanges of fire.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army reported that warning sirens sounded in several northern Israeli locations following rocket fire from Lebanese territory. Military officials stated that the projectiles targeted Israeli troops deployed in southern Lebanon and confirmed that no casualties had been reported.
Israeli media also reported that a drone launched from Lebanon crossed the border earlier in the day, triggering additional sirens in two northern towns. These incidents add to a series of cross-border exchanges of fire that continue despite international calls for de-escalation in the region.
