Oman Air is preparing to modernize its fleet in order to return to profitability

Oman Air has announced that it is considering a new aircraft order as part of a transformation strategy aimed at improving profitability and modernizing its fleet.

According to its CEO, Con Korfiatis, the company aims to replace its aging aircraft and develop new routes, particularly in long-haul markets. However, no timeline or order volume has been specified at this stage.

Oman Air is particularly interested in single-aisle aircraft equipped with premium cabins, including fully reclining seats. This choice reflects a strategy aimed at combining premium comfort and profitability on long-haul routes such as those connecting the Middle East to Asia or Europe.

The company, which operates a fleet of approximately 34 aircraft, has been seeking to improve its financial performance for several years. It had already begun experimenting with the use of single-aisle aircraft on long-haul flights, a new approach for its network.

This development comes in a regional context marked by strong geopolitical tensions, which have recently disrupted air traffic in the Gulf and prompted some states to adapt their flight routes for security reasons.

Oman Air hopes to reposition its business model on more sustainable foundations, by focusing on a more flexible fleet adapted to the new realities of the global air market.
