North Korea launches several ballistic missiles into the sea in a new show of force.

North Korea has conducted further ballistic missile tests toward the sea off its east coast, according to South Korea and Japan. This series of launches is part of Pyongyang's strategy to strengthen its military capabilities.

The missiles were launched from the Sinpo region on the east coast in the early hours of the morning, the South Korean military said. This is North Korea's seventh ballistic missile launch this year, and the fourth in April alone.

In response to this event, South Korean authorities convened an emergency security meeting to assess the situation and its implications for the region. Japan also closely monitored the launches, which are fueling security concerns in Northeast Asia.

These tests violate UN Security Council resolutions prohibiting North Korea from developing its ballistic missile program. Pyongyang, however, rejects these restrictions, deeming them contrary to its right to self-defense.

For some analysts, these launches take place in a particular international context. "While the United States is focusing its efforts on Iran, North Korea sees this as an opportunity to accelerate the modernization of its nuclear and ballistic arsenal," explained Lim Eul-chul, a professor at Kyungnam University.

These new military maneuvers risk exacerbating tensions in the region, already marked by persistent strategic rivalries. They also underscore Pyongyang's determination to continue developing its capabilities despite international pressure.
