At least three people were killed in Ukraine in Russian airstrikes over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian officials said Sunday, despite the three-day US-brokered ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv.
According to Ukrainian local authorities, one person was killed in each of the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson regions following Russian drone strikes. Regional governors and police reported the deaths in separate statements released on Sunday.
In the Kharkiv region, located in the northeast of the country, Governor Oleh Syniehubov stated that eight people, including two children, were injured in drone strikes targeting the regional capital and several neighboring towns.
The governor of the Kherson region, Oleksandr Prokudin, also indicated that seven other people, including a child, had been injured since Saturday morning in drone attacks or artillery bombardments.
On Friday, the American president Donald Trump It had nevertheless been announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a temporary ceasefire from May 9 to 11. This truce was intended to be a step towards broader peace negotiations to end a conflict that has lasted for more than four years.
Despite this announcement, Ukrainian authorities reported nearly 150 clashes in the past day alone, demonstrating that fighting remains particularly intense on several fronts. No concrete signs of a lasting de-escalation have yet been observed.
International diplomatic efforts to secure a comprehensive peace agreement remain stalled, while both sides continue to accuse each other of violating ceasefire commitments.
