Ukraine has received 11 requests for assistance from countries neighboring Iran, as well as from the United States and some European countries, to help intercept Iranian drones, the Ukrainian president said on Monday. Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the head of state, these requests come after a week of conflict in the Middle East, during which Iran used drones in military operations targeting several locations in the region.
Kyiv believes it possesses particular expertise in combating this type of weaponry, acquired since the beginning of the war against Russia. Ukrainian forces have indeed had to contend with numerous attacks by Russian drones designed using Iranian technology, which has led them to develop specific air defense methods.
Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that this experience was now attracting the interest of international partners facing similar threats. Ukraine could, in particular, share its technical expertise or contribute to defense efforts aimed at neutralizing these drones.
At the same time, Kyiv continues to demand more weapons from its Western allies, particularly systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles used by Russia in airstrikes against Ukrainian cities.
Ukrainian authorities hope that their contribution to the fight against Iranian drones will strengthen military cooperation with their partners and support their own demands for advanced defense equipment.
