The UN denounces a wave of executions and arrests in Iran since the beginning of the conflict

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights warns of a sharp increase in civilian casualties in Sudan, amid escalating fighting and increased use of drones in the conflict.

In a statement from Geneva, High Commissioner Volker Türk warned that the situation could enter an "even more deadly phase" if no international action is taken quickly.

According to the UN, the expansion of violence and the increase in drone attacks are contributing to a growing number of civilian deaths and population displacements across the country.

The conflict primarily pits Sudanese armed forces against paramilitary groups, in a war that has already triggered a major humanitarian crisis. The UN is stressing the urgent need for a coordinated diplomatic response to prevent further escalation.

The United Nations is calling on the international community to intervene in order to limit the impact on civilian populations and prevent a further deterioration of the situation on the ground.
