More than 400 Hezbollah fighters have been killed since the start of the new war with Israel, according to sources close to the movement.
This assessment constitutes the first overall estimate of the losses suffered by the Lebanese armed group since the intensification of military operations in early March.
Until now, Hezbollah had only communicated in a fragmented way about its losses, without providing an official total figure.
For its part, the Israeli army puts forward a higher toll, claiming to have killed at least 700 fighters, including many members of the Radwan Force, the movement's elite unit.
The conflict also has a heavy human cost for the whole of Lebanon.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli strikes and ground operations have killed at least 1,142 people.
The victims include 122 children, 83 women and 42 medical staff members.
However, the authorities do not distinguish between civilians and combatants in this assessment.
These figures testify to the intensity of the clashes and the scale of the human losses.
They also illustrate the difficulty of establishing accurate assessments in a context of war.
The confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah is part of a broader regional escalation.
It fuels fears of a protracted conflict in the Middle East.
The evolving situation on the ground could further increase the death toll in the coming days.
