At least 11 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon on Sunday, according to health officials, during a day marked by escalating violence amid regional conflict. The attacks occurred as Christians across the country celebrated Easter Sunday.
An initial airstrike targeted the village of Kfarhata in southern Lebanon, killing seven people, including a four-year-old child, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported. This attack came after an evacuation order was issued overnight by the Israeli army, urging residents to leave the area.
In the capital, another strike hit the Jnah district of Beirut, killing four people and wounding 39 others, according to the same source. State media reported that the city's southern suburbs were targeted by at least eight airstrikes throughout the day.
Earlier on Sunday, the Lebanese army also announced the death of one of its soldiers in an Israeli strike in the south of the country, highlighting the extension of hostilities beyond the usual border areas.
Throughout the day, Beirut was rocked by the sound of explosions and the low-flying military aircraft. This day was among the most violent since the escalation between Israel and Hezbollah began last month, in an already highly tense regional context.
