Spain and China strengthen their partnership in the face of global tensions

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and the Chinese President Xi Jinping have shown their willingness to strengthen ties between Spain and China, in an international context marked by growing tensions.

Meeting in Beijing, the two leaders emphasized the importance of multilateralism in the face of what Xi Jinping described as a "collapsing" world order. Pedro Sánchez, for his part, advocated for closer ties between Europe and China to address global challenges.

This meeting is part of a series of visits by Western leaders to China, as several countries seek to maintain a dialogue with Beijing despite persistent differences on security and trade issues.

Madrid appears as one of the main proponents in Europe of a balanced relationship with China, favoring economic cooperation over confrontation. This position contrasts with that of the American president. Donald Trump, more critical of Beijing.

Following this meeting, the two countries planned to sign several agreements, particularly in the areas of agricultural products and transport, aimed at strengthening their trade relations.

This rapprochement illustrates the ongoing realignments on the international stage, where traditional alliances are evolving in the face of geopolitical uncertainties and rivalries between great powers.
