The United States is conducting a spectacular military exercise over Caracas

The US military conducted a military exercise over Caracas on Saturday, the first since the operation carried out in January by US forces that resulted in the capture of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.

According to Venezuelan authorities, the January intervention resulted in at least 100 deaths. The new military exercise, officially presented as a simulation of an evacuation in the event of a medical emergency or disaster, has reignited tensions and anxieties in the capital.

The operation involved two MV-22B Osprey aircraft of the U.S. Marine Corps, which landed near the U.S. Embassy, while U.S. ships entered Venezuelan waters in the Caribbean.

The US embassy stated in a press release that it remained committed to implementing the president's three-phase plan. Donald Trump, in particular to ensure the "stabilization of Venezuela". General Francis Donovan, head of the United States Southern Command, went there and met with representatives of the interim government.

The Venezuelan government led by Delcy Rodríguez has authorized the exercise, according to both U.S. and Venezuelan authorities. This administration, backed by Washington, has recently adopted several measures opening the country's oil and mining sectors to American companies.

In the streets of Caracas, the presence of American military aircraft sparked a mixture of concern and astonishment among residents. "Seeing a foreign country flying over our city, especially the United States, fills us with uncertainty," one resident told Reuters.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan opposition figure María Corina Machado, who has been living abroad for several months, promised at a rally in Panama City to continue the mobilization against the current authorities, stating that her return to Venezuela was approaching.
