New Mexico authorities are searching Jeffrey Epstein's former ranch

Investigators in New Mexico began searching Jeffrey Epstein's former ranch on Monday as part of a renewed investigation into the alleged activities of the American financier accused of sexually abusing minors.

The property, located about 48 kilometers south of Santa Fe, was one of the places where Epstein and some of his associates are accused of exploiting and abusing young women and girls.

The search comes after New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez decided last month to reopen the investigation into the financier's alleged criminal activities on the isolated ranch.

This decision follows the release in January of new documents from the U.S. Department of Justice. Among the accusations mentioned is the allegation that Epstein ordered the burial of the bodies of two young foreign girls in hills near the property.

In a statement, the Attorney General indicated that the authorities would continue their investigations and inform the public when appropriate. He also assured them that the objective remained to support the victims and establish the facts.

Jeffrey Epstein, the American financier accused of sex trafficking of minors, died in 2019 in a New York federal prison while awaiting trial. His death, officially ruled a suicide, did not end the investigations into his network and the locations associated with his activities.
