Venezuela and Colombia cancel a meeting between their presidents without explanation

Venezuela and Colombia announced the cancellation of a planned meeting between their heads of state, citing a "force majeure" situation without providing further details.

The meeting was to bring together Venezuelan interim president Delcy Rodríguez and Colombian president Gustavo Petro. It would have been the Venezuelan leader's first official meeting with a foreign head of state since she came to power in January, following the ouster of former president Nicolás Maduro.

In a joint statement issued by the two governments, Caracas and Bogotá explained that the planned meeting had to be postponed due to exceptional circumstances, while affirming their willingness to set a new date soon.
