The future “Air Force One” gifted by Qatar could fly as early as July 4th, despite the controversy.

The United States plans to deploy the Qatari-donated aircraft as early as July 4th, intended to serve temporarily as Air Force One, according to several reports surrounding the project. This decision comes as the gift from the wealthy Gulf state continues to generate criticism and political questions in Washington.

The aircraft in question is a Boeing 747-8 belonging to Qatar, which has been seen in recent months alongside the presidential motorcade of Donald Trump in Florida. The aircraft is currently undergoing significant technical modifications to meet the security and communication requirements imposed on a US presidential aircraft.

According to available information, the aircraft is being painted and undergoing a series of flight tests following the installation of new equipment. US authorities hope to have it operational in time for the July 4th celebrations, a highly symbolic date in the United States.

This project, however, has sparked considerable controversy. Several critics have denounced a potential conflict of interest related to the United States accepting such a gift, given the strategic relationship between Washington and Doha. Donald Trump dismissed these concerns, downplaying the accusations and defending the practical benefits of this solution.

The use of this aircraft also comes at a complicated time for the official Air Force One replacement program. Boeing, tasked with developing the new US presidential aircraft, is facing significant delays, cost overruns, and changes in management that are now pushing back delivery to 2028.

In this context, the use of the Qatari plane could constitute a transitional solution for the American presidency, while opening a political and ethical debate on foreign influence and transparency at the highest level of the State.
