Russia targets gas stations in Ukraine, a deadly attack according to Kyiv

A series of Russian airstrikes targeted gas stations in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, killing at least one person, according to a Ukrainian official. The drone attacks caused fires and damaged several facilities, amid escalating attacks on civilian infrastructure.

According to local authorities, five sites in the region were affected, and firefighters were mobilized to try to control the fires sparked by the explosions. Material damage is significant, although the full extent of the destruction has not yet been assessed.

Attacks on gas stations have increased in recent days, with near-daily incidents reported in at least four regions near the front line. These energy infrastructures, essential for both civilian and military operations, appear to have become a recurring target of Russian operations.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry advisor Serhiy Beskrestnov stated that this campaign aimed to "terrorize civilians." According to him, these attacks are part of a broader strategy designed to destabilize the daily lives of people in areas near the fighting.

As the war enters a new phase of intensification, Ukrainian authorities are warning of the growing vulnerability of civilian infrastructure to drone and missile strikes, which continue to regularly hit several regions of the country.
