Russia has warned that European plans to increase drone deliveries to Ukraine risk further involving European Union countries in the conflict, denouncing an escalation of tensions.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that several European states had decided to increase their production and supply of drones to Kyiv. Moscow views this development as increased direct involvement of Western countries in the war.
In a particularly noteworthy move, Russian authorities published a list of factories and companies allegedly involved in manufacturing drones or components destined for Ukraine. This list includes sites located in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, and Israel, among other countries.
The ministry stated that European citizens should be informed of the "real causes" of the threats to their security, as well as the location of the relevant industrial facilities on their territory.
In a separate message, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, now vice-president of the Security Council, suggested that this list could be interpreted as an identification of potential targets for the Russian armed forces.
These statements come amid heightened tensions between Russia and Western countries, as military support for Ukraine continues. They illustrate the risk of the conflict escalating, with Moscow warning against any further European involvement in the war.
