China can play a decisive role in ending the war, according to US Senator Lindsey Graham.

China has sufficient influence over Russia to help end the war in Ukraine, said US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham on Friday, calling on Beijing to exert more pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to promote a resolution to the conflict.

During a visit to Kyiv, Lindsey Graham asserted that China wielded more influence over Moscow than the United States. He argued that Beijing's political and economic power made it a significant player capable of influencing Kremlin decisions and encouraging a de-escalation of the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Kyiv indicated that it had discussed the potential role of China in talks with US President Donald Trump and several European leaders. Kyiv believes that Beijing's involvement could be a significant factor in diplomatic efforts to end the fighting.

Lindsey Graham also stated that the Trump administration now supports a bill that would strengthen sanctions against Russia. This bill, whose passage had been delayed for several months, now has the backing of the US executive branch, according to the senator.

As fighting continues in Ukraine, Kyiv authorities continue to advocate for tougher Western sanctions against Moscow while seeking to convince major powers, including China, to use their influence to promote a resolution to the conflict.
