The North Korean leader also reiterated his support for Moscow's offensive against Ukraine, expressing his conviction that Russia would ultimately prevail under Vladimir Putin's "wise leadership." The Russian president had previously sent him a message on the 81st anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japanese occupation, praising the "unprecedented" level of strategic partnership between the two countries.
Kyiv is talking about up to 50,000 additional soldiers
North Korea has already joined forces with Russia by supplying weapons and deploying troops. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky now claims that Pyongyang could send between 30,000 and 50,000 additional soldiers to support the Russian army. However, he did not specify the source of these estimates or provide a timeline for this potential deployment, which has not been confirmed by either Moscow or Pyongyang.
Volodymyr Zelensky also accused Russia of recently using North Korean ballistic missiles in deadly strikes against Ukraine. He called on South Korea to strengthen its cooperation with Kyiv, particularly in the area of air defense. Seoul has not yet publicly responded to this request, while the military rapprochement between Russia and North Korea continues to raise concerns in Ukraine and among its allies.
