The heirs of Silvio Berlusconi have agreed to sell the famous Villa Certosa, the iconic Sardinian residence of the former Italian Prime Minister, to a company linked to the ruling family of Qatar. The transaction, estimated at around 350 million euros, marks the end of an era for this symbolic estate in Italian political and social life.
According to a source close to the matter, the transaction was concluded with Constellation Hotels Holding Ltd, a company owned by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani. The vast estate is located on the Costa Smeralda, one of the most exclusive and sought-after areas of Sardinia.
The Fininvest holding company, controlled by the Berlusconi family, confirmed that one of its subsidiaries had accepted a firm offer from a foreign buyer for the sale of the property, without however disclosing the identity of the buyer or the financial details of the agreement.
Villa Certosa is one of the best-known symbols of the legacy of Silvio Berlusconi, who died in 2023. This luxurious estate had served as a holiday retreat and informal meeting place for many international leaders, as well as a setting for highly publicized private parties.
Over the years, the residence has come to embody the unique blend of political power, business, and private life that characterized the career of the former Italian prime minister. It has notably been associated with his infamous "bunga bunga" parties, which sparked considerable controversy.
With this sale to a Qatari investor, Villa Certosa now changes ownership and leaves the Berlusconi family estate, confirming the persistent interest of major international fortunes in prestigious real estate assets in Europe.
